A bit about me...
I'm Dr Sarah Major, a Clinical Psychologist based in Rugby, Warwickshire. I qualified in 2002, and have since worked in the NHS and my own private practice...You Clinical Psychology. I am an Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and a Chartered Clinical Psychologist, and am also a member of ACAT, the EMDR Association and the HCPC.
My experience
I have 20 years' experience of working independently with adults and children, and my work in the NHS over the past 22 years has been in services across the lifespan:
-
For five years with adults with complex and enduring mental health conditions (including one and a half years in neuropsychological rehabilitation).
-
For ten years with older adults (offering psychological assessment and therapy and neuropsychological assessment for dementia).
-
For over seven years in child and adolescent mental health services (including two years in secure child services).
I have worked through from being a newly qualified psychologist to working as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist. This breadth of experience has enabled me to develop my wealth of knowledge, skills and experience to my working practice and I feel very comfortable in working in any of these privately.
I am also a qualified CAT practitioner, which is advantageous when working with people with complex and long-term problems. I have also trained in EMDR (adult and child), which means that I have a range of skills I can apply to working with trauma. I am a professional, warm and honest therapist, with my guiding principle being to treat clients as I would want myself or a member of my family to be treated. Much of my work is through word-of-mouth and personal recommendation.
Teaching and supervision
I have been a supervisor and trainer for over 22 years. During that time, I have supervised a wide range of professionals, including Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Nurses, Social Workers and Occupational Therapists. As well as these, I have taught across the spectrum, from Clinical Psychology Doctorate Trainees to Prison Officers, from local charities to community groups.
